Three questions that need different formulas
To find a percentage of a number, multiply the decimal rate by the number. To find what percentage one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. If you know that 30 is 20% of an unknown total, divide 30 by 0.20 to recover 150. This reverse calculation is useful when a receipt shows a tax or discount amount but not the original total.
Money, rounding and multiple discounts

Why does my answer appear as a decimal?
A decimal may be the exact intermediate result. Multiply a proportion such as 0.23 by 100 to display it as 23%, and add the percent sign only after that conversion.
