About this site

Small tools with visible assumptions.

Plain Tools is a collection of focused calculators, converters, counters and generators. Each page is designed to answer one practical question without an account, upload or distracting workflow.

Standards last reviewed

Built for the task

Pages are organized around a concrete job, not around keyword variations. Related tools only link where the next task is genuinely useful.

Methods shown

Calculation pages explain formulas, units, rounding choices and important limitations beside the tool.

Private by default

Tool inputs are processed by JavaScript in the browser. Plain Tools does not send the text or numbers entered into a tool to a server.

Corrections welcomed

Software and platform limits change. Reports with a reproducible example or primary source are reviewed through the contact page.

Editorial standards

Explanatory copy is written to help a person understand what a result means, not merely to rank for a search phrase. Pages should have a distinct purpose, working controls, examples, limitations and links to relevant neighboring tasks.

Facts that can change—such as social-platform character limits—should identify the rule being measured. Mathematical and encoding tools should describe the formula or browser standard they use. No result should be presented as professional legal, medical, financial or security advice.

Testing and maintenance

Tools use deterministic browser code where possible. Changes are checked for valid page structure, keyboard operation and representative inputs. A correction may update the interface, explanation or both.

Plain Tools does not sell rankings, accept paid links or publish sponsored tool recommendations. If that policy changes, commercial relationships will be disclosed where they appear.

Linking and attribution

You may link to any public page. A descriptive link to the exact tool is more useful than a generic homepage link. You do not need permission to cite a formula or explanation, but copying an entire page or presenting Plain Tools as your own service is not permitted.
