How to use the Yes or No Picker

What the Yes or No Picker does

The Yes or No Picker returns one of two equally likely answers: Yes or No. Type a question if you want the result displayed with some context, then select Decide. The wording of the question does not influence the draw; it is a label for the decision, not information the picker analyzes.

When it is useful

Use this picker for harmless choices where either outcome is acceptable, such as deciding whether to take a walk, start with one of two chores, order a familiar meal, or let a classroom activity continue for another round. It can also break a tie when everyone has agreed in advance to accept a random answer.

How the random decision works

Each press creates a fresh random result in the browser. A previous Yes does not make No more likely next time, and a short run does not have to alternate or contain equal totals. Repeated answers are normal in a random sequence. Press Decide again only when you intentionally want a new draw, not until the preferred answer appears.

Writing a useful question

Phrase the prompt so Yes and No are both clear and refer to the same immediate choice. Questions such as 'Should we watch the comedy first?' work better than vague prompts with several conditions. If the decision has more than two possible answers, use the random line picker or Spin the Wheel instead.

Limits of a random answer

The picker has no knowledge of your circumstances and does not judge which option is wiser. Do not use it for medical symptoms, personal safety, legal rights, financial commitments, consent, employment, or any choice where consequences require evidence or informed judgment. In those situations, gather reliable information or ask an appropriate professional.
